Tigerair Australia Supports Whitsunday Tourism Efforts As Region Bounces Back From Effects Of TC Debbie

By Ray White Whitsunday

– Airline announces sponsorship of three key community events in 2017 to boost tourism in the region.
– Launches special fares starting from just $33* to stimulate travel to the region (for travel in May/June).

To help promote the region, which is now up and running, Tigerair has fares on sale now from just $33* each way between Brisbane and Whitsunday Coast Airport and from just $66* between Sydney and Whitsunday Coast Airport, for travel from May 18 to June 28. Sale ends midday AEDT May 9 or until sale fares are sold out.

In further support, the airline is also thrilled to announce three major sponsorships including being the official airline partner for the Cyclone Debbie recovery concert in Airlie Beach on May 27, the major sponsor of the Whitsunday Tourism Awards in September and the major airline partner of the Airlie Beach Festival of Music in November.

Tigerair Australia recently added additional services to fly six weekly return services between Sydney and the Whitsundays and in March launched four weekly return services between Brisbane and Whitsundays, providing, in total, close to 200,000 visitor seats annually through Whitsunday Coast Airport, in response to consumer demand.

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications Vanessa Regan said “Tigerair Australia is thrilled to support the incredible efforts of our airport and tourism partners in the Whitsundays, which is very much open for business as usual now.

“While the effects of the cyclone were severe, they were also short lived and the Whitsundays remain a jewel in Queensland’s tourism crown. The way the region and tourism operators have worked together to quickly restore normality is testament to the resilience and passion of the tourism industry in the Whitsundays.

“Through our great value fares and commitment to the region, we want to encourage Australians to show their support by booking great value travel deals to the Whitsundays.”

Mayor Andrew Willcox said the support from Tigerair Australia to date had been amazing.

“It’s good to have friends like this that recognise difficult times and are with us for the long haul,” he said.

Tourism Whitsundays CEO Craig Turner said “The Whitsundays had a great relationship with Tigerair before the recent weather events and it’s fair to say that this relationship has only grown stronger, as evidenced by these initiatives and the low priced fares into region, which will assist visitors in making the Whitsundays their winter destination of choice.”

Consistently great value fares across the Tigerair Australia network are on sale on the airline’s website www.tigerair.com.au with fares across Australia on sale today from $33*, $66* or $99*.

*Light Fares are per person in AUD and include GST.
