Krystal’s screen test

By Mark Beale

SAM Wood is hoping to meet the love of his life on national TV but will it be Cannonvale’s Krystal Steele?

The blonde bombshell has just been announced as one of 20 “bachelorettes” vying for Sam’s affection in the 2015 series of The Bachelor Australia.

Krystal’s aged 30 and Sam’s 34.

She’s a healthy-living, fitness-loving mum and he runs his own children’s health and fitness company.

They might have the basics in common but will they be the perfect match?

Krystal’s mum hopes so.

“Actually my mum suggested it to me,” said Krystal about how she came to be a bachelorette.

“At first I was like, ‘no’… then ‘actually, you know what – why not’.”

Having been single for two years now, Krystal, who works as a travel agent and has lived in the Whitsundays since the age of five, described this latest break as “an amazing opportunity”.

“It’s not necessarily about me being on national TV… I’m not the kind of person to put myself out there and say, ‘hey, hey I’m here’,” she said.

“(But) I’m 30 years old so I’m ready to try and settle down and make something of it.”

Krystal describes herself as a very genuine, down-to-earth, person, who likes to keep busy “just doing the general mum duties – playing in the park – all that sort of thing”.

She likes exercise and healthy eating and has plans to enter her first fitness model event in the near future.

She might look stunning, but she thinks she’s “just your normal, average girl next door”.

As for how she’ll fare in the competition for love, she says she’s not comparing herself to the other girls.

“(And) I think it’s important for women not to compare themselves to other girls in everything you do in life,” she said.

“It’ll just come down to what kind of girl Sam’s looking for – I am who I am.”

The Bachelor Australia is set to air on Channel Ten although a start date is yet to be announced.

In the meantime, viewers can take a sneak peak online at the moment Krystal meets Sam.

Cheekily presenting him with a beer and toasting him with one herself, Krystal certainly knows how to make her mark.

Her tactics aren’t lost on Sam, who salutes her with a “well played Krystal” and a lingering look.
