Whitsunday Regional Council has approved $5,000 in sponsorship and a waiver of fees and
charges to support the Whitsunday Reef Festival held from 31 July to 9 August.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said Council is once again very pleased to support this annual festival which
fosters tourism and economic development in the Whitsunday region.
“Council will give $5,000 by way of sponsorship for the Reef Festival in addition to waiving
associated fees and charges,” Mayor Whitney said.
“Council will also work with the Reef Festival Committee to provide in-kind support and install the
reef festival street banners to promote the event,” she said.
“The Reef Festival continues to grow each year and the variety of events will ensure a fun-filled
weekend for families and individuals and to the many visitors that travel to our region.”
